EAA Appoints Dr Jane Connor to Board

Emergency Action Alliance welcomes Dr Jane Connors as first independent Board Director

Emergency Action Alliance has today announced the appointment of Dr Jane Connors as its first independent board member. The appointment became effective on 8th January 2024.

Dr Connors brings over 30 years of experience and expertise in the domestic and international broadcast media environment working with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation since 1993.

She is a graduate of the AICD Company Director’s course has also recently served as a Non-Executive Director (Staff-Elected) of the ABC Board and Advisory Board Member at the Centre for Media History.

EAA Board Chair Matthew Maury said Dr Connors brings a wealth of experience and skills to the organisation during a rapid growth period.

“I am delighted to welcome Dr Jane Connors to the Emergency Action Alliance board as one of our Independent Directors. Jane will be a tremendous addition to the governance of the EAA and brings capability and skills in media from her many years working in leadership roles at ABC,” he said.

“From the earliest days of EAA’s evolution Jane has been a beacon of support for EAA and was central to securing ABC support for our very first appeal, for the Ukraine Emergency. We look forward to working with Jane as we move into this exciting new phase of growth for EAA.”

Dr Connors said she was thrilled at the opportunity to join the EAA board.

“It is an absolute honour to join the EAA board as its first independent director. Having been involved with EAA appeals in the past I have seen firsthand the brilliant work they do in garnering public support for humanitarian emergencies around the world,” Dr Connors said.

“I am looking forward to working with the board and the EAA team to contribute to raising awareness and much needed funds for the people and communities affected by the devastating effects of emergencies.”
