Emergency Action Alliance welcomes Mat Tinkler as EAA Board Director
Emergency Action Alliance has today announced the appointment of Mat Tinkler, CEO of Save the Children Australia, to the EAA Board of Directors.
Mat Tinkler is Group CEO of Save the Children Australia and has a high public profile as an advocate for vulnerable children. As well as leading Save the Children’s International Programs for eight years, his diverse background in the public and private sectors includes senior executive roles as a Chief of Staff with the Federal Government and as Acting Executive Director of the Public Law Clearing House, an organisation that provides legal services to the most disadvantaged Australians. Mat began his career as a corporate lawyer at Minter Ellison.
EAA Board Chair Susanne Legena said Mat’s appointment has come at a critical new phase for EAA and a critical juncture for international aid.
“I am delighted to welcome Mat Tinkler to the Emergency Action Alliance. Mat is well known and highly regarded across the sector as a powerful voice for vulnerable children around the world. He is actively engaged in key sector initiatives to drive change at the systems level, creating better outcomes for those in crisis.
With global events and major impacts to humanitarian aid, it has never been more important that we as a sector stand together so that we can work to bridge some of the gaps through collective action”
Mat Tinkler said he was delighted at the opportunity to join the EAA board.
“It is a great privilege to join the EAA Board and to stand alongside my fellow directors as we face headwinds of change. I have long been an advocate of EAA and look forward to being closer to the important work this Alliance does.”
We have seen time and again that in the worst of crises, we can do more by working together, not in competition. This model has already proven to be successful here in Australia as it is in the UK and Europe, and can only go from strength to strength. Now, more than ever, we’re stronger together.”
