Our members are still responding with lifesaving aid
Even though the EAA funds have now been expended, our members continue to provide humanitarian assistance to affected communities in Myanmar. They are providing food, safe drinking water, shelter, medical assistance, cash voucher assistance and psycho social support.
Many EAA members have a decades-long-established presence and trusted local partnerships in Myanmar and the region and are already planning their emergency response.

What happened during the Myanmar Earthquake?
On 28 March 2025, a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar, followed by powerful aftershocks. It is one of the most devastating disasters in the region’s history.
Humanitarian Needs: Families urgently need food, clean water, medical care, and safe shelter. The crisis is worsened by ongoing conflict and monsoon rains.
Lives Lost: Over 5,400 people killed, thousands injured.
Displacement: More than 2.1 million people are without safe shelter.
Damage: Tens of thousands of homes, schools, and hospitals destroyed; critical infrastructure collapsed.
Emergency Action Alliance’s Impactful Response
One day after the earthquake, Emergency Action Alliance (EAA) launched an appeal for the disaster. Together, we raised over $740,000 for the people affected, with the support from our media partners ABC, SBS, Channels 7, 9, 10, News Limited, FreeTV Australia and Community Broadcasting Association of Australia.
Emergency Action Alliance charities and their local partners were among the first responders providing urgent aid. Following the search and rescue operations, the immediate priorities were access to healthcare, shelter for those who lost their homes, and ensuring people have food and clean water.
Without the support of our generous donors, many people would not have received critical lifesaving assistance in their greatest time of need.
